On Tuesday night (January 5), a TMZ report emerged that hip-hop icon Dr. Dre had suffered a brain aneurysm on Monday and stayed in extensive care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Shortly after, the storied MC, producer, and magnate– born Andre Young– took to Instagram to provide a favorable upgrade on his condition.

” Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wants,” Dre, 55, wrote. “I’m doing great and getting exceptional care from my medical group. I will run out the hospital and back home quickly. Yell out to all the excellent physician at Cedars. One Love!!”

Local L.A. television station KABC reports, nevertheless, that his home in Brentwood has been the website of a tried break-in while Dre stays in the healthcare facility. Apparently, nothing was taken.

Dre came up in the famous rap group N.W.A, whose increase and subsequent fall was chronicled in the 2015 biopic Straight Outta Compton, for which Dre received a production credit. With the laid-back, hazy production work of his seminal 1991 album, The Chronic, he assisted launch the rise of G-funk and the career of Snoop Dogg; by the end of the ’90 s, he ‘d signed Eminem to his own label, Aftermath Entertainment, and assisted him take over the pop world.

In the 21 st century, Dre has been known primarily as a manufacturer– Mary J. Blige’s “Family Affair,” 50 Cent’s “In Da Club,” and Eve and Gwen Stefani’s “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” all include his production work– and a mogul. In 2006, he co-founded the music electronic devices business Beats with Jimmy Iovine, and by 2014, Apple had actually acquired the business for a reported $3 billion.

When news initially broke of his hospitalization, the hip-hop neighborhood rallied around Dre and sent ideas and well wishes for his recovery through social networks.
