This news will light TELEVISION on fire.

The official Video Game of Thrones Twitter account simply exposed our first look at the legendary creatures from the program’s upcoming prequel series, titled Home of the Dragon

” Dragons are coming,” the tweet reads, along with two pictures of a red dragon that will likely be a big aspect of the new series. “HouseoftheDragon starts production in 2021.”

The original HBO fantasy series, which is based upon the series of books by George R. R. Martin, ended after eight seasons in May2019 While lots of fans were dissatisfied with the program’s conclusion– which saw the death of “Mom of Dragons” Daenerys Targaryen— that didn’t stop the network from plotting several programs within the same universe.

One prequel series in the works starred Naomi Watts as a “charismatic socialite hiding a dark trick” and was set to ” chronicle the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.” After the pilot was shot in 2019, HBO selected not to move on with the task.

Though specific plot details are still under wraps, we know that Home of the Dragon will be based upon Martin’s book Fire & Blood and will follow members of Home Targaryen over 10 episodes. Because the Targaryen’s have an unique bond with dragons, it makes best sense that these creatures would be a big part of the brand-new show.

In October, it was revealed that The Third Day star Paddy Considine will play King Viserys Targaryen, who is “selected by the lords of Westeros to be successful the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council at Harrenhal.”
