The New Radicals are reuniting for the Biden Harris inauguration. Yes, the ’90s group with the infectiously beloved and era-defining track, “You Get What You Give.”

The band is getting back together to perform that 1998 seminal hit at the virtual parade for the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on January 20.

The pleasant yet unexpected surprise has caused a stir online as Twitter users react to the news—with plenty of Marilyn Manson jokes.

“If there’s one thing on Earth that would possibly make us get the band together, if only for a day, it is the hope that our song could be even the tiniest beacon of light in such a dark time,” frontman Gregg Alexander said in a statement.

“America knows in its heart that things will get bright again with a new administration and a real plan for vaccines on the way. That’s the message of the song… this world is gonna pull through,” the singer—famous for his bucket hat—added.

Per Rolling Stone, the song has a special meaning for the Biden family.

In Biden’s 2017 autobiography, “Promise Me, Dad,” the president-elect wrote that ‘You Get What You Give’ became the family’s “theme song” when his son Beau was battling cancer.

“During breakfast, Beau would often make me listen to what I thought was his theme song, You Get What You Give’ by the New Radicals,” Biden wrote in the memoir. “Even though Beau never stopped fighting and his will to live was stronger than most—I think he knew that this day might come. The words to the song are: ‘This whole damn world can fall apart. You’ll be OK, follow your heart.'”

The song was also used during the 2020 campaign trail, as the walk-on song for Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff.

Alexander added in the band’s statement: “Performing the song again after such a long time is a huge honor because we all have deep respect for Beau’s military service and such high hopes for the unity and normalcy Joe and Kamala will bring our country again in this time of crisis.”

’90s kids and music buffs may recall the song’s lyrics sparked a showbiz beef between the band and edgy for the time, alt-metal shock rock performer Marilyn Manson.

The song, which is an anthem about social and political issues affecting America at the time, includes a throwaway diss of musicians Beck, Hanson, Courtney Love, and Marilyn Manson with the lyrics: “You’re all fakes/Run to your mansions/Come around/We’ll kick your ain.” (See the full song lyrics below.)

Manson famously responded to the line, saying he would “crack [Alexander’s] skull open if I see him.” (per MTV).

The news of The New Radicals reunion for the inauguration has led to a wave of people referencing the famous ’90s beef.

“as joe biden promised, on day 1 of his presidency, he will personally kick marilyn manson’s ain,” joked journalist Rob Harvilla.

While another added: “bernie got the strokes biden gets the guy in the bucket hat who sings about marilyn manson and hansen this is perfect.”

“Well this will be awkward if Biden also invites Beck, Hanson, Courtney Love, or Marilyn Manson,” joked another.

Music critic Steven Hyden added: “Biden administration coming out hard against Beck, Hanson, Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson.”

Author Tod Goldberg added: “People who are upset about this: Beck, Hanson, Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson.”

The news has also prompted bemusement from people on social media who are reacting to the unexpected announcement.

“If I had a thousand days and a thousand guesses per day I would not come up with ‘New Radicals Reunion,'” reads one tweet.

“I swear before God, if some bunch of sad sack QAnon man cave dads even briefly disrupts a New Radicals reunion, I will become Rambo multiplied by Linda Hamilton and devote my life to exacting pitiless revenge,” joked Esquire editor Dave Holmes.

Pitchfork’s J. Escobedo Shepherd added: “If New Radicals guy doesn’t wear the bucket hat to the inaug i stg.”

“‘We did it, Joe! We got New Radicals back together!'” said inauguration staffer Robyn Kanner, invoking Harris’ famous victory phone call to Biden.

Journalist Joel Stein joked: “There was no voter fraud. But if I had known the voting for @JoeBiden meant a New Radicals reunion, I would have voted twice. In Wisconsin. While yelling, ‘Every night we smash a Mercedes Benz/ First we run, and then we laugh til we cry.”

Lady Gaga is also confirmed to be performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the event.

“You Get What You Give” Lyrics

One, two!
One, two, three, ow!

Wake up, kids, we got the dreamers disease
Age fourteen, they got you down on your knees
So polite, we’re busy still saying please
Frienemies, who when you’re down ain’t your friend
Every night we smash a Mercedes-Benz
First we run, and then we laugh ’til we cry

But when the night is falling
You cannot find the light (light)
You feel your dreams are dying, hold tight

You’ve got the music in you
Don’t let go, you’ve got the music in you
One dance left, this world is gonna pull through
Don’t give up, you’ve got a reason to live
Can’t forget, we only get what we give

I’m comin’ home, baby
You’re tops
Give it to me now!
[Verse 2]
Four A.M., we ran a miracle mile
We’re flat broke, but hey, we do it in style
The bad rich, God’s flying in for your trial

But when the night is falling
You cannot find a friend (friend)
You feel your tree is breaking just then

You’ve got the music in you
Don’t let go, you’ve got the music in you
One dance left, this world is gonna pull through
Don’t give up, you’ve got a reason to live
Can’t forget, we only get what we give

This whole damn world could fall apart
You’ll be okay, follow your heart
You’re in harm’s way, I’m right behind
Now say you’re mine

You’ve got the music in you
Don’t let go, you’ve got the music in you
One dance left, this world is gonna pull through
Don’t give up, you’ve got a reason to live
Can’t forget, we only get what we give
Don’t let go, I feel the music in you
You, you, you

Fly high
What’s real can’t die
You only get what you give
You’re gonna get what you give
Don’t give up, just don’t be afraid to leave

Health insurance, rip-off flying
FDA, big bankers buying
Fake computer crashes dining
Cloning while they’re multiplying
Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson
Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson
You’re all fakes, run to your mansions
Come around, we’ll kick your asses!

Don’t let go, one dance left
Don’t give up, can’t forget
Don’t let go
