Democrats are preparing for a fresh fight to end the filibuster after the Senate parliamentarian encouraged on Thursday that the $15 minimum wage could not be included in President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill.

Publishing on social media last night, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) stated: “Democrats need to not be held hostage by Mitch McConnell to assist having a hard time households.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), a member of The Squad, called for the filibuster to be eliminated, and for the elimination of the sitting parliamentarian.

” Individuals don’t care about keeping the filibuster.

Senators Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) also added their voices to the calls for the filibuster the be abolished.

Many legislators will have their eyes on Vice President Kamala Harris after the Senate parliamentarian’s judgment. The second in command still has the power to overthrow the view of the advisor, and include the $15 minimum wage in the COVID-19 relief expense.

However, the Biden administration has shown that Harris will not be working out that power. Speaking to MSNBC on Wednesday, White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain stated: “That’s not something we would do, we’re going to honor the guidelines of the Senate, and we will work within that system to get this bill passed.”

Releasing a statement on Thursday night, the White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki stated Biden was “dissatisfied” by the judgment, but would “respect” the decision and Senate procedure.
