Republican congressman Peter Meijer has stated among fellow celebration members voted against supporting the governmental election results, in spite of thinking they should, over worries their family would be targeted by Donald Trump’s reactionary advocates if they didn’t.

Meijer, who was recently sworn in to represent Michigan’s 3rd congressional district, made the claims while blogging about the “heinous attack” which occurred on Wednesday, January 6, as Trump supporters, extremists, and fans of the QAnon conspiracy theory stormed the Capitol in what legislators say was an attempted coup.

In an opinion piece for the The Detroit News, Meijer recalled how he had “assured my associate we would be great” even after they were unloading gas masks and hiding under bulletproof chairs as the violent mob tried to gain entry in to the chamber.

After the assault on Congress by those who Biden referred to as domestic terrorists, Meijer stated his colleague– who was among the 121 Home members and six senators who supported the objection– did so regardless of understanding Trump’s claims of citizen scams were false.

” My coworker told me that efforts to overturn the election were wrong, and that voting to license was a constitutional responsibility,” he stated. “However my associate feared for relative, and the risk the vote would put them in.

” Profoundly shaken, my coworker voted to reverse.”

Meijer did not call the GOP lawmaker and it is unknown if they had previously planned on supporting the outcomes prior to the attack.

Meijer goes on to describe how the mob wrongly believed that Vice President Mike Pence might somehow still overturn the election during his simply ceremonial and constitutional function as presiding officer of the Senate.
