Christina Perri has shared the tragic news that she lost her child girl.

The singer-songwriter, who in recent weeks was hospitalized for pregnancy problems, shared the news by means of Instagram on Tuesday, Nov.24

” last night we lost our child girl,” Christina captioned an image holding her child’s hand.

On Nov. 11, Christina asked fans to ” please send out some love from your heart to the little heart whipping in me that we all make it through this” after her baby began experiencing issues with her intestines. 3 days later, the 34- year-old confirmed her newborn would have to go through surgery following her birth.

” The child today is set up to have an operation when they get here,” she described at the time. “We’ll spend some time in the medical facility. We’re going to get ready for [the NICU], but anything might take place.”

” I guess the most significant thing is we hope the baby stays within and can get as huge as possible prior to this big event they have to go through,” Christina continued. “It’s just a couple more weeks, so I’m gon na try to relax and expect the very best.”

Christina and other half Paul Costabile, who are also moms and dads to 2-year-old daughter Carmella, revealed their pregnancy in July. Six months prior, the artist suffered a miscarriage at 11 weeks.

Christina stated she went public with the heartbreaking news to “help change the story [and] stigma around miscarriage, secrecy and shame,” including, “I am ever advised how amazing and powerful females are at making life and at healing. To all the mothers who have been here and who will be here, I see you and I love you.”

And simply weeks prior to the loss of her child, Christina opened about honoring her pregnancy experience after such a tough journey to motherhood.

As she described on Instagram, “i never wished to do a maternity shoot. i didn’t take any images when i was pregnant with carmella due to the fact that i was so traumatized by the experience of expanding a lot, but then after having a miscarriage in january, whatever altered for me. i really am grateful to be pregnant and grateful to be a woman. i am so blown away by what our bodies can do. i don’t know if i’ll ever be pregnant again, so this time i’m going to commemorate and honor my pregnancy, my infant & my stunning body.”
